Chickering Baby Grand Piano, Walnut Sati Finish, Conventional Model, Year 1979
Official appraisal by Artisan Piano Services, Seattle, done 1/31/2019:
Piano Cabinet is in good overall condition. The piano has no major flaws or defects. The cabinet has some very lite scratches that could easily be buffed out. The metals, decal, and pedals are all in good condition as well.
Piano Belly is in good condition and shows no signs of structural instability. The pinblock is holding the tuning pins well and the strings sound good. The soundboard is original and in great condition with no cracks in either it or the bridges. We recommend a deep cleaning be done on the interior of the piano to remove the dust.
Piano Action: The action is in good overall condition. The action could use some regulation work and some cleaning. This work can all be done in the home and would help the action play that much better.
This piano has been properly maintained and has an incredible tone.
The Chickering piano company was one of the world’s premier piano manufacturers. They are known for using only the finest aged woods and highest level of craftsmanship and design. Unfortunately, Chickering pianos are no longer being manfactured today. The closed piano similar to the Chickering piano being made here in America today is the Charles Walter W175. New replacement value (New Charles Walter W175 Satin Walnut) is $64,200.
